EU Funded Demonstration Project - Endohousing

Endoenergy Systems Ltd has obtained EU approval for a Demonstration Project under the ENERGIE Programme that will construct six endohouses at different latitudes across Europe (from Cyprus, Southern Italy, North Italy, Germany, UK and Sweden from a latitude of 35-62º). The project commenced on 1st June 2003 with a grant of ˜€2 M to fund the project (total value €4.2 M). The partners in the project are as follows:

1. Endoenergy Systems Ltd, UK (Co-ordinator)
2. Building Research Establishment,
UK
3. Fachhochschule Suedwestfalen, SOEST,
Germany
4.
Ohmans AB, Sweden
5. Centre for Built Environment, Univ of
Gavle, Sweden
6.
Kungliga Tekniska Hogskolan, Sweden
7. IVT Industrier AB, Sweden
8. Politecnico di Bari, Italy
9.
Spyros Stavrinides Ltd, Cyprus
10.
University of Brighton, UK
11. TNO, The
Netherlands
12. AKROS Costruzioni Generali
Srl, Italy
13.
Sandvikens, Sweden

The objectives of the project are:
1. To assess the potential of the endothermic technology for reducing the overall energy consumption in houses and reducing greenhouse gas emissions at EU level. The assessment will be carried out on technical and economic metrics, robustness and reliability factors and the user friendliness of the overall system.
2. To establish the robustness and reliability of endothermic systems.
3. To demonstrate that endoroofs can be designed in accordance with local building regulations, and manufactured and set up so as to be acceptable to users and authorities.
4. To determine the energy requirements for heating and cooling in different regions of the EU and to formulate the linkage between energy requirements and design parameters for sizing and operating the system.
5. To generalize the results for widespread use in different regions of the EU.
